BURNTFORK OUTDOOR ADVENTURES!
Burntfork Outdoor Adventures was started in February of 2017. However the root beginning of this really began in October of 1970. As a soon to be four year old, I had the opportunity to go with my dad, Craig Harward and younger brother, Todd, to my first deer camp. This camp was located just across the Utah state line from Burntfork, Wyoming. The camp itself was in the Burntfork Basin.
As we arrived in camp, I saw that my Grandfathers, Erwin Harward and Duane "Dewey" Caldwell, both were at camp. I knew that minute this was a magical place.
It was still dark when we arrived and my brother and I were told to be very quiet and we would be able to go on the hillside with the hunters. I was not going to miss this chance of a lifetime and I buttoned my lip and did my very best to be the quietest, almost four year old on the hill.
As dawn broke, so did the deer, the crack of Grandpa Erwin's .270 started the morning off right, down went a nice 23" 4 x 4, then my dad used Bryce Caldwell's .257 Roberts and took down the next 4 x 4, he was an easy 22". Then came the BOOM of the 7mm, Grandpa Dewey dropped a big 28" 4 x 4. The shooting continued around us, as we had a couple of uncles, and cousins in the camp also. It seemed like hours of shooting, whooping and hollering and running over hillsides, chasing animals. Looking back it was probably about 30 minutes or so...
My Grandpa Erwin had a green, one wheeled deer cart at camp, we went down, dropped off the rifles and went to collect the deer. I remember the next part as clear as it happened 5 minutes ago, The guys loaded 3 deer of above average size on to this cart, putting my brother on top of the deer and watching him ride the biggest buck down the mountain to camp, somehow though, my dad lost his worn out, brown Stetson on that trek down the hill.
For this reason and 40 plus years of returning off and on to this location, I have dedicated my life to Hunting, the Outdoor experiences that are to be enjoyed and Adventure that comes from doing these activities. I now want to take what knowledge I have, share it with others, teach those who know little about the outdoors and make it a safe and friendly experience. That, and to share what adventures there are, to be had in the blessed land we call the United States of America.

Upcoming Schedule
Early Season Scouting for Deer and Elk
Are you wanting to see what Burntfork Outdoor Adventures can do for you? We are going to be instructing the basics of how to scout for deer and elk. For a small fee we can take you out to some of the areas that we hunt or that you might be hunting and show you how to glass for animals. Before the session is complete, we will teach you how to look for the flick of an ear, the blink of an eye or the shine off the coat of the animal.
Tentative Schedule of July 8, 2017
Contact us for more information.
Summer Fishing
June thru August 2017
Fishing with Burntfork Outdoor Adventures will take you from the basics of tying on a hook, with the right amount of leader, to putting on the right amount of bait for the right breed of fish. We can help you from Utah Lake with catfish and white bass to the cold lakes of Strawberry and the Uinta's with Rainbows, Cutthroats, Browns and Brookies. We are not here to judge, we are here to help the ordinary, common guy and gal have the opportunity to learn haw to catch that fish and enjoy the outdoors. Call or Email us and we will set up a time to go out and start your Adventure.
Elk Tags
Tuesday July 11, 2017
Due to us starting our venture after the Utah Deer Tags have been sent in for the Draw, we suggest buying elk tags that are sold over the counter at any Authorized License Distributor (Wal*Mart, Sportsman's Warehouse, Cabelas, Dick's Sporting Goods, Scheels or your local Sporting Good Store) or at any Utah DWR location.) We can help get you into elk all over the state, if you want the meat for your freezer, we suggest a Spike only unit. There are a few units that have spike tags in limited entry areas, there will be less general hunters in these locations. If however, you would like to get an opportunity for any bull you see, may we suggest the Any Bull tag. We will help you with camping areas, boundary maps, and information about the herds in the area. These are all on general hunting units and we can make it as simple or rugged as you want to get. Send us and email and we can start working out details for the ordinary / common guy or gal to take big game in Utah.
The sooner you let us know, the sooner we can get your Outdoor Adventure happening.
